A sunny Sunday on the horizon

A sunny Sunday on the horizon

A cloudy clearing is expected over the entire Quebec area on Sunday.

This is particularly true of western Quebec, the regions of Montreal, Laval, Lanaudière and the Laurentians. The winds also reach 15 km/h and wind chill around -13 in these regions.

The same applies to Estrie, Mauricie, Quebec City and Centre-du-Québec. The maximum will reach around -2 in these areas of the province.

Chaudière-Appalaches, Charlevoix and La Tuque will experience sunny weather. That doesn’t mean warmer weather, however, as wind chill is expected to drop temperatures to -20 degrees.

Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie will also be under the sun, with wind chill approaching -30. There is a risk of frostbite.

For North-du-Québec there will be sun and cloud changes in Fermont and Schefferville. The wind will also reach 15 km/h and Fermont is at risk of frostbite.

The Magdalen Islands will see slightly cloudier weather in the morning, with gusts in the 60s. Temperatures will remain stable near 0. Wind chill should stabilize around -9.

Ice expected for the east on Monday

It’s the calm before the storm for the east of the province, while Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Gaspésie, Côte-Nord and eastern Bas-Saint-Laurent.

“The freezing rain should start on Monday morning in Baie-des-Chaleurs and spread to Gaspésie, Côte-Nord and certain places in Bas-Saint-Laurent in the following hours. Surfaces such as roads, sidewalks, and parking lots become icy, slippery, and dangerous. A build-up of ice could break tree branches,” read the federal agency’s release.
