Interview with the Mayor: “Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan is a close-knit family” –

Sébastien Marcil, mayor of Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, visibly affected by the events of last Thursday when an explosion occurred in a propane plant, invites the population to come and gather in solidarity on Sunday.

“We’ve all been in shock since Thursday, so we felt the need to come together to show all our solidarity,” he said.

The Mass of Solidarity will take place on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. in the parish church at 1188 rue Principale in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan.

“This is a very spontaneous initiative of the whole community,” said the mayor.


He claims that “Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan is a close-knit family”.

Mr. Marcil states that the church is ready to receive between 400 and 500 people.

He also wanted to express his support for the families affected by the tragedy.

“It’s the whole community that wants to carry the grief,” he said.

Keep in mind that three people are still missing as of last Thursday.

The mayor tells TVA Nouvelles that “the families are absolutely devastated because they are still waiting and that is what is extremely difficult”.
