Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson Test Positive for COVID-19 and Will Miss Critics Choice Awards

Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson will not be appearing at this year’s Critics Choice Awards as scheduled after testing positive for COVID-19, a Farrell representative confirmed to .

The news comes less than a week after the stars of The Banshees of Inisherin, nominated for best actor and best supporting actor respectively, attended Tuesday’s Golden Globes, where Farrell won the award for best actor in a comedy or a took the musical home with him.

The Searchlight Pictures film goes into the Critics Choice Awards with nine nominations. These include Farrell and Gleeson, as well as Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon; two for writer-director Martin McDonagh for Best Director and Best Screenplay; one for best picture; one for Best Acting Ensemble; and one for best comedy.

Farrell and Gleeson aren’t the only nominees who will miss out on the awards after testing positive. Everything Everywhere at Once star Jamie Lee Curtis announced Friday that she also tested positive and was unable to cheer on her cast and crew at the awards show.

The Best Supporting Actress nominee took to Instagram to express her frustration at her diagnosis. “Fuck COVID! Unfortunately, this chief cheerleader will not be attending the weekend’s celebrations at all to cheer on her friends and colleagues,” she said in a caption for a photo of three positive tests. “Living on life’s terms.”

The 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards, hosted by Chelsea Handler, will be held at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles on Sunday and will air on The CW from 7:00 p.m. ET.
