Rio The body of musician and composer Carlos Colla was buried this Saturday afternoon (14) at São Francisco Xavier Cemetery in Caju, Rio’s port area.

Family members and friends, including musician Michael Sullivan, Colla’s great songwriting partner, attended the funeral to pay their last respects.

Colla, author of several MPB hits, died this Friday morning (13) at the age of 78 after a cardiovascular arrest following pneumonia and kidney failure. He was hospitalized at Copa Star Hospital in Copacabana in the South Zone, where he underwent surgery to treat two aneurysms in his abdominal aorta.

The composer leaves behind three children. Carlos and Daniela from their first marriage and Laura from their two and a half year relationship with Miss Brazil Marisa Fully Coelho.

Carlos de Carvalho Colla was born on August 5, 1944 in Niterói, in the Rio metropolitan area. He currently lives in the capital.
