Chef Thiago Salvático vents after judiciary rejected request for stable union with Gugu Liberato, citing prejudice

Chef Thiago Salvático spoke to EXTRA this Monday the 16th about the court’s decision not to recognize his request for a stable union with Gugu Liberato, with whom he claims to have had a loving relationship for eight years.

In the decision, filed December 15 in the São Paulo Court of Justice, Judge José Walter Chacon Cardoso classified the relationship between the two as “secret” and said it could be considered a “friendship.” Excerpts from the document were published by columnist Gabriel Perline.

“Only from what is told in the initial one can conclude that the author and the deceased were friends, had some kind of loving relationship, even had a boyfriend, but it is impossible to say so much that the author himself it does not say that they were considered a couple who had a stable, public and enduring relationship, as if married and aiming to start a family,” reads an excerpt from the sentence.

Thiago Salvático mentions the last meeting with Gugu and counters Rose Miriam: “She is not a wife, she is the mother of his children”

In the appealable decision, the judge explained that due to the fact that the relationship was kept secret, it could not be assumed that there was a “steady partnership”:

“Also, and above all, the story makes it clear that everything would have happened in secret, with absolute respect for the privacy of the deceased, but also without the knowledge of Antônio Augusto (Gugu)’s relatives. As is well known, clandestine participation outside the family framework of the parties does not even theoretically fit into a stable trade union”.

Boss will appeal

Thiago, who is wanted by EXTRA, said he will appeal the decision. “This decision was made by the judge without even handling the case, without even hearing the family, witnesses, etc. And certainly if it were a heterosexual case, there wouldn’t be that prejudice in the judiciary in 2023,” he said. “On the appeal that I’m going to file, I think it’s positive that in court, at least everyone Family members are heard,” he added.

The chef even reiterated his relationship with Gugu: “We had it together for eight years. It all ended in a fateful day, which I will talk about later. (…). We had a stable connection, in the form possible for a homoaffective and public person. Just see that even today, public figures face serious and harmful consequences when they come out. Karnal publicly took a stab at her husband of 4 years days ago and received a barrage of negative and biased comments. Imagine Gugu presenting programs for the family ten years ago and in particular on Record, a religious channel.

He also cited the evidence that accompanied the trial: “We shared everything on a daily basis, issues of life, everyday life, work and family (kids), when we weren’t together we communicated through daily phone calls over messages hundreds processing of messages, photos were added, evidence of our travels together, evidence of our joint investment account, evidence that I had passwords, from cards to Instagram, which today may have access to a social network of one of the biggest personalities on television anything much more relevant and it shows how much of a presence I was in his life as no one but the two of us had the password. I only saved a few photos and videos because media leaks revealed our intimacy, which wasn’t the case in my character, to preserve some of his physical privacy.”

In June, Thiago had informed the press that he was withdrawing from the campaign, which did not happen. The withdrawal came two weeks after he gave his first interview to “Fantástico”.

“My relationship with Gugu was that of two singles, without barriers, and not interfering in any relationship with third parties and harming no one. It was a relationship based on a lot of love, complicity and the community of life. I’m very proud to have Vivid.” This is how Thiago Salvático defended his claim to part of the presenter’s assets.

The 33yearold chef, who currently resides in Germany, where he owns two ice cream shops, filed a lawsuit to be recognized as the artist’s partner. In the action, he shared messages and photos of intimate moments he had with Gugu Liberato, who died in November 2020 in the United States at the age of 60 after a domestic accident.
