“If you want to take on the federal government, you need some F-15s. You don’t need an AR-15: Biden’s message to his ‘right friends’ as he again promises to ban offensive weapons that ‘have no social redemption quality’
- President Joe Biden said assault weapons had “no reparation value.”
- Arguing AR-15s would not be effective in bringing down the federal government
- Said American citizens would need F-15 jets to be successful
- The Second Amendment’s primary protection was to ensure that citizens could rise up against the federal government and protect themselves against the government
President Joe Biden made a strange new argument for banning certain types of guns, claiming that Americans would need more than guns if they were to take on the federal government.
Biden said during the National Action Network’s (NAN) Martin Luther King Jr. Day breakfast Monday that AR-15s would not be enough for American citizens to overtake the government.
The primary reason for the protections afforded by the Second Amendment was the Founding Father’s desire to allow citizens to rise up and overthrow their government if so desired. It was intended to balance citizens against a potentially corrupt government.
The president also said in his speech that Republicans see a financial benefit in keeping certain high-powered and semi-automatic rifles legal.

“There is no social redemption value [to assault weapons]Biden said to a friendly room of attendees at a breakfast for Reverend Al Sharpton’s civil rights nonprofit NAN.
“Deer don’t wear Kevlar vests out there, what the heck do you need for an attack — no, I mean that,” the President said, echoing his frequently used argument against AR-style firearms. “And ban the number of bullets that can fit in a magazine. There is no, no need for any of this.’
But then Biden came up with a new argument, claiming that AR-15s were not only too much for hunting, but also not enough to protect citizens from the federal government.
“If you have concerns about taking over the federal government, you need some F-15s,” Biden said, referring to the military jet. “You don’t need an AR-15.”
“I’m serious, think about it. Think about the rationale for this. It’s about money,” he said.

The President vowed during his MLK Day speech: “I will have assault weapons banned. I did it once, I will do it again.’
Biden has repeatedly urged Congress to pass what he calls “common sense gun reform” that includes a ban on so-called assault weapons. This is a phrase many people unfamiliar with firearms use to describe AR and AK style guns – and other semi-automatic rifles.
The president has also called for a nationwide ban on high-capacity magazines.
A common argument by anti-Second Amendment groups is that people should only buy guns for hunting.
They sarcastically joke that hunters who want to use AR-15s have to be a “terrible marksman”.
Burs’ second amendment advocates say there should be no restrictions on the types of firearms the average American citizen should be able to purchase, citing constitutional protections for the right to bear arms to defend oneself or against the government to rise up against them.
