As a sign of solidarity with the protests in Iran, resistance slogans will be projected on the Eiffel Tower in Paris for two days. On Monday and Tuesday, “Femme. Vie. Liberté”. (Woman, life, freedom) and “#StopExecutionsInIran”, announced the city of Paris. The aim was to honor the people of Iran who fought valiantly for their freedom as the regime continued to execute demonstrators.
The death of Iranian Kurd Jina Mahsa Amini in mid-September last year triggered nationwide protests in Iran. The young woman died in police custody after being arrested by the so-called moral police for violating Islamic dress codes. Since then, there have been repeated protests against the government’s repressive course and the Islamic system of government. According to human rights activists, at least 522 people were killed in the protests. Among them are 70 minors and 68 police and security forces.
