“Yes, I am guilty.” David Carricka 48-year-old police officer, appeared in court in London and at least admitted to the rape 12 women from 2003 to 2020. The British agent abused his job to take control of victims and was guilty of 49 crimes (including 20 rapes) in just over two decades.

Online Dating and Abuse
According to the reconstructions, he lured some of the raped women onto dating sites and used his position to gain control over them. The victims were obsessively abused and controlled, from the food they ate to their clothing. Carrick admitted to raping nine women, some multiple times over months or years, often resorting to physical violence that left victims injured.
According to another British police officer, it is an “unprecedented story” for a British agent. The investigation was initiated by the complaint of one of the victims. Carrick, who is known on Tinder, showed her his police card on the first date and told her that he had met famous people. Then he is said to have taken her to a hotel and raped her.
After the story broke, other victims of the officer also spoke to police. “They didn’t do it before because Carrick told them nobody would believe them,” said Deputy Commissioner Barbara Gray, the Met’s chief of professionalism.
The reactions
For Jaswant Narwal, chief prosecutor at the prosecutor’s office, “Carrick has held a role in which he has a responsibility to protect the public, but for over 17 years he has done exactly the opposite in his personal life.” London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he was “sick and appalled” by Carrick’s crimes. “Londoners will be rightly shocked that this man could have worked for the Met for so long and serious questions need to be answered as to how he abused his position as an officer in such a horrific way,” he added.
