Sad news, young Emmy Pruneau passed away on Monday afternoon. Less than three months ago, the 19-year-old Windsor woman managed to obtain a rare drug that could have saved her time, but unfortunately her cancer was too malignant.

Her father, Éric Pruneau, announced his daughter’s death on Facebook: “Emmy passed away peacefully early this afternoon. I love you my sunshine.”
Minutes after her death, a message was also posted on Emmy’s Facebook page: “Early this afternoon I left this world peacefully surrounded by my family. I love you all and don’t forget that life is beautiful.
Last October, Health Canada agreed to make Emmy tazemetostat available through Health Canada’s Special Access Program because the drug is not marketed in Canada.
Health Canada’s decision came after Richmond-Arthabaska Independent MP Alain Rayes and Federal Health Secretary Jean-Yves Duclos agreed to help Emmy and her family in their efforts.
“Emmy’s fight was not in vain as other patients after her have had access to the same drug which was previously not possible. She cleared the land for the Canadians, she is an example of courage and resilience. I am shocked to hear of his passing and offer my condolences to his family,” MP Rayes said.
