“Shy singer surprises the jury with her great voice,” they titled the presentation Keren Montero, Season 2 winner of Dominicana’s Got Talent, on America’s Got Talent. And is not for less.
As in the local version, it shocked the strict judges, who did not expect that such a powerful voice would come out of such a timid and even fragile appearance.
Before the audience indulged in his voice, the jury, consisting of Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum, did not fail to point out his impressive talent, especially the last two.
“I think you gave yourself a real chance in this competition,” Heidi began her assessment of Keren. “You have such a powerful and beautiful voice. You sound beautiful,” he added, to a moving audience of applause.
Another who appreciated Keren’s talent was producer Howie Mandel, who praised her transformation from speaking to singing. “I love the range when you speak very softly… You’ve done your country and your family proud,” he said.
Finally, Simon, the strict judge of the edition, although recognizing his talent, has highlighted some points that should be improved, in particular the choice of the song. “Honestly, the talent we’re seeing coming from all over the world this year is actually pretty amazing. If you want my honest advice, the thing is, when you come to a show like this or any other, you have to find a song and you have to convert it into your own version,” he advised.
He added: “I liked it, but I think sometimes you have to do something that nobody has done before.” That opinion reaped the public’s disapproval, which it expressed with boos, to which he added, “I’m just trying to be constructive.” And he concluded: “Thank you for coming, I really enjoyed it, I really want to say that.” It is not yet known if the young Dominican will rise to the next level on the popular American television program.
Keren became the winner of season two of Dominican’s Got Talent (DGT). The second season of Dominican’s Got Talent concluded on Wednesday 10th March night with a limited audience live gala.
The teenage singer, who won Nashla Bogaert’s Golden Buzzer in the first episode, took three million pesos in cash.
In between Keren Montero, Diego Jaar and Marteen Franko, the third most voted act and who reached the third place was Marteen. Diego was second.
