Ukraine says Russia is bombing bridges and railroads to disrupt arms shipments

An adviser to Ukraine’s Interior Ministry said on Tuesday (26) that Russian forces are bombing bridges and railways in Ukraine to reduce supplies of Western weapons.

A bridge that is part of a crossborder route with Romania across the Dniester River was hit by Russian missiles on Tuesday, according to Ukraine’s railway company director Oleksandre Kamychin.

“The enemy has caused great damage to the infrastructure of the bridge, and it will take a long time to restore it,” the Ministry of Transport said on Telegram.

The bombing on a route starting on the Ukrainian side in the port city of Odessa left no victims, according to the authorities.

“Russia is destroying Ukraine’s transport infrastructure such as bridges and railways to reduce arms shipments from our allies,” Interior Ministry adviser Anton Gerashchenko tweeted.

At least five people were killed Monday in Russian bombing raids on railway facilities in the Vinnytsia region of westcentral Ukraine, a major railway junction for national and international connections.

Since the Russian invasion began on February 24, several train stations have been attacked, including the in Kramatorsk, early April, with more than 50 dead.
