War in Ukraine: a disturbing wave of suicides among Russian oligarchs

A strange wave of deaths has been observed since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Six Russian oligarchs have died under mysterious circumstances. Almost all of them are related to the Gazprom company.

Did they commit suicide, where were they eliminated? Six Russian businessmen have been found dead in the past few weeks. Each time, the similarities are disturbing. On April 19, in Lloret de Mar (Spain), Sergey Protosenya was found hanged in his villa on the Costa Brava, with an ax and knife nearby. The bodies of his wife and daughter were also identified. Sergey Protosenya was the former CEO of Russian gas giant Novatek, which is currently under Western sanctions.

According to the Russian company, the thesis of a veiled triple murder does not hold. “We are convinced that these speculations are unrelated to reality,” the company said on April 21. If Sergey Protosenya’s story is questioned, it is because it is similar to that of five other Russian businessmen specializing in the energy sector who were also found dead in Russia and Britain. These oligarchs have been torn between loyalty and betrayal of the Kremlin by Western sanctions.
