The British ‘A Room with a View’ actor has been officially reported missing from Mount Baldy, northeast of Los Angeles. Search stopped due to bad weather and avalanche danger
“Absence”. British actor Julian Sands, 65, has been officially reported missing. This was announced by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The interpreter of “Screams of Silence”, “Room with a View”, “Arachnophobia” and “Ocean’s Thirteen” has been missing since the evening of January 13, when he was hiking up Mount Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains. The news was confirmed by his spokeswoman Gloria Huerta. A research team and a mountain rescue team that had been working for hours had to stop their search because of the difficult weather conditions: there is a risk of avalanches in the area where Sands was last seen. For days, local authorities had warned climbers and hikers not to attempt the summit. However, intermittent aerial searches using helicopters and drones have continued, and authorities plan to resume them on the ground as soon as conditions allow, according to the Variety website. There have been 14 rescue operations on Mount Baldy and the surrounding area in the last month.
Julian Sands began his acting career in 1984 with Roland Joffé’s Howls of Silence, but his first starring role came the following year in James Ivory’s A Room with a View, the film based on EM Forster’s novel of the same name that won three Oscars and dedicated it and his co-star Helena Bonham Carter: They played two lovers in Florence in the early 1900s. After the success of the films Ivory and Ken Russell’s Gothic, he moved to Hollywood and made numerous films from there: Warlock (1989), The Sun Even at Night (1990), Arachnophobia (1990), Naked Lunch (1991), Boxing Helena (1993) and Leaving Las Vegas (1995) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007).
