“Be careful with this damn Covid, I underestimated it, but I’ve been going through hell for ten days!”. So, a few months ago Pasqualino Maionea student on this week’s edition of the Amici talent show – won by Marco Carta – had told his followers he was in hospital.
The singer rose to prominence last summer after taking part in the Mediaset show hospitalized after a virus, made worse by Covid which had spread from the lungs to the brain. After a four-month illness, Maione is now tempted but on the mend.
Pasqualino Maione’s long illness
The hospitalization had taken place on August 22 when Pasqualino Maione, Paki on social media, posted on Instagram with an IV in his arm, hospitalized after being forced to bed by Covid for over ten days.
Some time later, in October, the singer returned to social media to tell fans about his ongoing hospital experience: “Sorry for the absence, but the situation turned out to be a lot more serious than I would have thought be able. Unfortunately my condition worsened after Covid and I stayed in hospital recovering from a bad infection that had affected my spinal cord and brain. Luckily the infection goes away with therapy and I’m slowly getting better.”
The lung infection, made worse by the virus that Maione had twice contracted, had reached the brain and caused meningitis, which doctors caught just in time. Today the singer is still in the hospital, visibly damaged and 30kg lighter, but Healing seems closerthanks to cortisone and careful drug therapy.
The support of Amicis fans and schoolmates
“Get well soon”, “Go Paky. You are right to spread the news about health because it is important to know”: these are just some of the comments on Maione’s posts, accompanied by the support of fans during the illness.
In addition to the 38-year-old singer, other former Amici students, notably Roberta Bonanno and Martha Rossi, are also singers in the seventh edition of the talent show hosted by Maria De Filippi. With the winner Marco Carta, on the other hand, “it happens from time to time, but nothing more,” Maione revealed to the weekly newspaper Nuovo. No phone call, however, from Maria De Filippi herself, with whom relations were severed after the show ended.
Paky Maione: “I dream of coming to Tale and Which Show”
Pasqualino Maione’s musical career has never stopped, although the singer has been out of the spotlight for some time. The last TV appearance was on Rai Uno in 2018 when the performer took part in a special competition within Domenica In moderated by Maria Venier.
Today, once his health issues are resolved, Maione hopes to restart as a singer and maybe take part in the Saturday night show Tale e which Show, which airs prime time on Rai Uno. A former student of Amici would certainly not be a novelty in the show hosted by Carlo Conti, who has included Valerio Scanu, Virginio, Dennis Fantina, Antonino Spadaccino (winner of the 2022 edition of the show) and Karima in his army of imitators. And also some of Pasqualino’s direct classmates: Marco Carta and Roberta Bonanno.
