Although the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) has not given any official information about possible approaches with Ricardo Gareca as coach of the national team, in Peru they regret not being able to keep Tigre and throw them the lead before the Rimac football.
Gareca qualified with the Peruvians for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and was close to reaching Qatar 2022, but his team lost to Australia on penalties in the playoff.
After several talks with the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), led by Agustín Lozano, no agreement was reached on Gareca’s extension.
Tigre’s history with Peru was similar to that with compatriot and colleague Gustavo Alfaro in Ecuador. And because of this, the Tri is looking for a replacement.
The international press names Gareca as the new Ecuadorian coach. And while there’s nothing official, the FPF boss is already being criticized for not keeping the strategist.
“Ecuador will win the Copa America and I will remember it for the rest of your life, Lozano. Good morning friends and Happy Thursday everyone,” Peruvian singer Pedro Suárez-Vértiz wrote on his social media. (D)
