A 16-year-old teenager was electrocuted on a road trip in Charlevoix –

A 16-year-old boy was electrocuted after going off the road in Petite-Rivière-Saint-François in Charlevoix on Thursday night.

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) police officers were called to 911 at around 11:30 p.m. for a road trip on Gabrielle-Roy Road.

The driver, who lost control of his vehicle, crashed violently into a power pole before landing in a wooded area.

The driver of the vehicle and his two passengers were taken to a hospital, where the death of one of the two passengers was confirmed.

According to initial findings, the 16-year-old died from an electric shock when he was outside the vehicle after the accident.

The driver of the vehicle and his other passenger are not in fear for their lives, according to SQ spokeswoman Hélène St-Pierre.

The 17-year-old driver was arrested for driving under the law but was released pending the outcome of a trial that could lead to charges.

An investigator and a reconstruction specialist were dispatched to the scene of the accident to determine the exact circumstances of this fatal accident.
