The Tanguay Group, which acquired the premises from the Musée de la Civilization in October 2021, announced the end of extensive restoration and rehabilitation works on the building, which now houses around thirty employees and in whose impressive building an immersive activity is offered to visitors vault.

“We approached the Ministry of Culture to seek approval for rental improvements. We did not do any demolition work. It’s more like construction work. We had plans drawn up by our architects,” said Jérôme Jolicoeur, Partner and Vice President of Tanguay Real Estate Group.

Most of the work took place in the summer and autumn of 2022.

“The painting work was extremely tedious. We had three full-time painters for almost three months just to touch up the paint inside.”

Painting the premises was a real painstaking job, especially for the windows that required a lot of patience and cutting.

The other work done is more at the building mechanics level, he added.

“It’s not in the visible part. Water pipes and electricity had to be renewed. The same goes for ventilation. Everything has been optimized.”

Immersive experience

To enliven the space and open it to the public, the owner has partnered with the company Immersion Québec, which offers visitors a virtual reality experience focused on Québec history.
