BUT Michigan a woman was charged with trying to kill her mother with a penknife in a methamphetamine attack during which she also tried to set her on fire by rubbing alcohol.

Alexis Van Dusen, 21, is in custody on charges of attempted murder and imprisonment after assaulting her mother Buffy McBride at her mother’s home in Kalamazoo, Michigan on Feb. 25.

Police say she burned her mother with alcohol and then stabbed her with a penknife. According to police reports, she was high on methamphetamine and knocked on neighbors’ doors.

The mother, Buffy McBride, told FOX 10 that she was still reeling from the attack and had to fight for her life.

The police arrived and found the mother injured. She survived and has now been discharged from the hospital.

In an interview with FOX 10McBride said she still loves her daughter and hopes she can get help with her addiction.

“Alexis, I love you. I wish you the very best. And I’m sorry for everything you’ve been through in your life.

But I’m not crying because of you. I’m crying because you broke my heart, she said.

“I put up a fight. I fought for my life. I had to. I had no choice. I don’t know how any child could do it, but it wasn’t my daughter,” she added.

Van Dusen is still being held on charges of attempted murder and false imprisonment.

The family is now raising money on a GoFundMe page to help McBride move.

Her sister-in-law created a report that reads, in part: “My mother-in-law has a heart of gold. She was helping her daughter the night the same daughter brutally attacked her.”

They raised $40 of their $1,500 goal.
