A Toronto man has been charged with first-degree murder for stabbing a 22-year-old woman to death in Sault-Sainte-Marie a few days ago in what police say was a “premeditated murder.”
According to the Toronto Sun, Taylor Marshall’s body was found in a residence on September 7th. Steven Jones, a 25-year-old man, has been charged with murder. According to authorities, the victim was chosen at random.
“It was determined that the victim was stabbed multiple times, resulting in his death,” police said in a statement. Physical evidence and video evidence link the defendant to the murder. The two people did not know each other.”
Steven Jones was also charged with attempted murder. According to police, the accused killed the 22-year-old woman before going to another property nearby. One person was severely stabbed but survived the attack.
Inspector Brad Duguay stated that the defendant arrived in Sault-Sainte-Marie a few days before the crimes. Police do not know the reason for his stay in the area.
“We tried to track his movements,” Mr. Duguay said. At this time we are still working on the timeline of events.”
In a Facebook group called “Justice for Taylor Marshall,” the 22-year-old victim’s mother shared the pain of her partner and two sons.
“This monster robbed him of any chance to achieve his dreams and goals,” wrote Shirley Marshall. I was born and raised in this community. I’ve never been afraid and now… I just can’t believe this happened. For what ?”
