On Monday, the former quarterback and who was his pilot for 20 seasons were introduced on the podcast Let’s Go!

“He’s the greatest player, greatest career and great person,” Belichick said of Brady. It was a great opportunity and an honor for me to coach Tom. I think it has to end at some point. It’s the best ever, congratulations Tom.”

Belichick also praised Brady’s intelligence, citing his ability to memorize games and game situations. For his part, Brady returned to the idea that there was a rivalry between the two greats of the NFL.

“There’s nobody I’d rather have been associated with,” he said. In my view, Brady vs. Belichick type conversations were dumb because that’s not what a partnership is about. The coach can’t play the quarterback role and I couldn’t coach. I think people tried to divide us. I don’t think we’ve ever felt that way about each other.”

The Belichick-Brady duo terrorized the NFL for two decades, appearing in nine Super Bowl games and winning the Vince Lombardi Trophy together six times.

The 45-year-old center ended his association with the Pats and their head coach in 2020 when he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent.
