Boca Juniors’ 2-1 loss to Fluminense in the 2023 Copa Libertadores final left bad news for the Xeneize world. According to the Argentine press, a fan of the blue and gold team took his own life after Jorge Almirón’s team finished second in the international competition.
The fan was a police officer. According to his relatives, the 23-year-old only made the fateful decision hours after the game. They point out that he saw the meeting together with his brother and his father in the city of Buenos Aires.
The mother of a Boca Juniors fan gave her statement
The Boca Juniors fan’s mother, Verónica, spoke on the TV show Crónica and explained the reason why her son decided to end his life.
“Because he was a Boca fan. When he lost, he felt bad, he got sad, he hit pine cones, he said Boca was the greatest. They killed him. I don’t have him now and there is no player to give me condolences,” he said.
