A fire classified as “suspicious” completely destroyed an old intercity terminal in Drummondville on Sunday.
The City of Drummondville Fire Department was called to a fire in an abandoned building at 330 Heriot Street.
“The fire started in the building,” said Andrew Barr, chief of the Drummondville Fire Department. “He was tied to a business and a home. All were evacuated. Forty firefighters were on site. They came from Drummondville, Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover and Saint-Germain-de-Grantham.
The use of the fire brigade limited the damage in the area, even though the building was a total loss.

“It was made too dangerous for the firefighters inside, so we withdrew our staff,” Andrew Barr said. We did the job with a mechanical shovel. Firefighters saved the home and business. I can’t say it’s a win, but we did the work necessary to limit the damage.
“We assume that the fire is of suspicious origin. For this reason, the file was forwarded to the Sûreté du Québec for investigation,” he concluded.
