Tragedy was narrowly avoided late Friday afternoon when a driver crashed her car into a residence in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville neighborhood.
The spectacular accident occurred around 3:40 p.m. on Avenue de l’Esplanade, near the intersection with Rue Sauvé Ouest.

For an unknown reason, the driver, aged about 40, was in the opposite direction of traffic as she drove east on Rue Sauvé Ouest.
A citizen signaled to her that she was not driving in the right lane and the driver continued driving, crashing violently into the building.
According to our information, the woman may have felt unwell a few moments before the impact.

His car was almost completely submerged in the building and ended up in a basement apartment.
Luckily there were no residents there.
The driver suffered head injuries that required transport to hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
The entire building had to be evacuated urgently as the structure was reportedly unstable since the collision.
