A car thrown into a pedestrian after an accident in Montérégie

A car was thrown into a pedestrian after a collision Sunday in Saint-Simon, Montérégie, sparking fears for the life of the victim.

It all started around 1:30 p.m. when a 22-year-old driver failed to stop at a required stop while exiting Route 116 onto Route 211 under the Highway 20 overpass.

The driver collided with a second vehicle traveling on Route 211. This at least turned and finally met a seventy-year-old who was walking on foot, summed up Catherine Bernard, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec.

The pedestrian was seriously injured and was in critical condition as of mid-afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle that was hit suffered minor injuries, which still required transport to the hospital, while her passenger escaped unscathed.

The person who caused the accident was not injured.

In order to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the incident, an accident investigator was called to the scene of the accident. Witnesses should also be questioned.
