This is the case for many Canadian Football League (CFL) games this time of year. We’ll probably have to wait until the fourth quarter, Saturday in Calgary, to determine a winner between the Montreal Alouettes (6-7) and the Stampeders (4-9).
Stampeders head coach and general manager Dave Dickenson expects a constant war where turnovers could make all the difference.

“We know it will be one of those games where the two teams will exchange leads. We have to make the three or four extra plays that will make the difference in our favor,” he predicted on Friday, as quoted on the Stampeders website.
Watch out for Jake Maier!
Of course, among the Stampeders’ main weapons, the Alouettes have to keep an eye on quarterback Jake Maier. The latter has accumulated 3,310 passing yards in 13 games since the start of this season. He has completed 275 relay races, leading the CFL in that regard.
The Alouettes’ defensive unit faces a major challenge. In the first game between the two teams this season, on July 30 in Montreal, the local club responded well with a 25-18 victory. In particular, Kabion Ento and Kordell Rodgers each managed an interception against Maier. However, Ento is limited to the practice squad and will not be there.
Also in the Alouettes’ lineup will be running back William Stanback in the game, while Walter Fletcher will not play in the game as he is on the injured list for one game. Major absentees include Tyrell Richards, who is still recovering from an injury, and defensive lineman Landon Rice.
Cheap calendar
After Saturday’s game in Calgary, the Alouettes travel to Ottawa the following weekend to face the Rouge et Noir (3-10).
The Ottawa team will then visit Percival Molson Stadium on the afternoon of Monday, October 9th as part of the Thanksgiving clash.
