A couple renovating a post-war home have shared a haunting video of a little girl’s ‘spooky’ room hidden in the attic.
The owners have been documenting their renovations on their @projectbelmont account, starting with a now viral video of them entering a small room that hasn’t been accessed in three decades.
“We were told that the original owner built this as a little playroom for his girl, but no one has been there in over 30 years,” they explained in the caption. “So we decided to go up.”

A couple who are renovating a post-war home gave a tour of a little girl’s ‘spooky’ room they found in the attic in a viral TikTok video.
The owners have been documenting their renovations on their @projectbelmont account, starting with a now viral video footage of them entering the small room.
The only way to get to the attic was to climb the stairs and crawl through a small hole in the ceiling, which made their investigation all the more chilling.
The insulated room had a baby bed, an antique chest of drawers, and a window with sheer white curtains.
I’m not afraid, you’re afraid. #creepy #scary #fyp #renovation,” they captioned the footage, which featured spooky music that featured children’s laughter.
The video has been viewed more than 7.9 million times since it was posted on February 27, and many TikTok users found the room disturbing.
Some were so frightened that they claimed to have seen a curtain moving or someone standing in the window.
“Definitely saw the figure of a girl in white. Immediately there was a bad mood. All-consuming sadness. Definitely a room to hide,” wrote one person.
The only way to get to the attic was to climb the stairs and crawl through a small hole in the ceiling, which made their investigation all the more chilling.
They were told that the original owner had built a playroom for his little girl, but it had been abandoned for the last 30 years. Inside was a bed and an old chest of drawers.
“Maybe it’s just me, but did anyone else see the curtain move a little at the beginning?” someone else asked.
The owners responded that they agree that “you can see someone standing there behind the curtain” when you enlarge the window.
“It’s a ghost,” someone else added. “I tell you, this place is haunted.
Some people suggested that it was a “disappointment room” where families hid from prying eyes children suffering from physical or mental disabilities.
The 2016 horror film The Disappointment Room, starring Kate Beckinsale, is about a family that moves into an old house and discovers a locked place where a child was kept.
The film was inspired by a Rhode Island woman who discovered a room on the third floor of her colonial home with a metal floor and a deadbolt on the outside.
One viewer wanted to know how the antique chest of drawers got into the room, and the owners were admittedly stumped.
The old chest of drawers, which could not be taken apart, was too big to fit through a hatch or a window.
The owners added that the antiques also could not be put on their side, and he slipped into the room.
After doing a little research, she learned that the judge who built the house locked his disabled daughter in this room. The librarian shared her story on an episode of the HGTV program “If Walls Could Talk.”
Is this the Disappointment Room? Was their little girl sick? or something different?’ one person asked.
“Room of Disappointment. They used to hide children with disabilities and birth defects,” added another.
“I wonder what happened to the girl that she kept her in the disappointment room?” someone else wondered.
There were also several people who insisted that it was just an attic bedroom, noting that the room was abandoned in the early 1990s, not the 1890s.
“I don’t get a bad feeling from this,” wrote one TikTok user. “I feel like they just couldn’t afford a bigger house. [and] had to make the space work.
“Some people in the comments are wild,” someone else countered. “It was a children’s room 30 years ago. Just like in the early 90s. They probably had more children than rooms. Not so deep.
After watching the video, the woman asked for a 360-degree view of the space because she thought she had lived in the room in a past life.
Some TikTok viewers have come to the conclusion that the door in the room likely led to a staircase, which has been removed.
The viewer, who claimed to be “pretty sympathetic,” also offered to check the bottom drawer of the dresser, but found nothing but an insert.
“Then it was customary to renovate attics. Some houses were built with stairs,” another explained.
However, there is at least one mystery in this room.
One viewer wanted to know how the antique chest of drawers got into the room, and the owners were admittedly stumped.
“The chest of drawers is an antique, so it couldn’t be assembled in the room,” they explained in a follow-up video.
It was too big to fit in a trapdoor or window, and they added that it also couldn’t be laid on its side and slipped into the room.
After watching this video, the woman asked for a 360-degree view of the space, saying, “I swear that was my room in a past life.” I froze looking at it.”
Another person wanted to know where the door in the room led. Some onlookers concluded that this probably led to a staircase that had been removed.
And someone else, who said he was “pretty empathic,” offered to check the bottom drawer of the dresser, but found nothing but an insert.
