A couple will send their DNA into space

An Arizona couple will send their DNA into space aboard Texas funeral home Celestis’ Enterprise mission, along with nearly 200 other people.

This mission will transport 196 vials containing ashes of deceased or DNA from people living more than 330 million kilometers from the blue planet, Portal reports.

Gerry and Elizabeth Paulus love to travel and consider their participation in this project their “ultimate journey”.

“It helps us think about the future and while we won’t be there physically, part of us will be there in a way and that makes me smile a lot,” explains Ms. Paulus.

Alongside the couple, the DNA of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, along with series actors James Doohan and Nichelle Nichols, will also be part of the journey.

US Presidents George Washington, Dwight Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy will also be represented in the mission.

“It will be the only repository of our civilization outside of Earth,” says Celestis President Colby Youngblood.

The market launch of the capsules is planned for the end of the year.
