A cyclist was seriously injured in Quebec on Monday by a driver who should not have taken the wheel.

At the end of the day, a violent collision occurred near Quai Saint-André 30, a few steps from Espace 400e.
According to the first statements, the 76-year-old cyclist would have crossed the lane when he arrived on Rue Saint-Pierre at the Quai Saint-André junction.

He was hit by a westbound car. After meeting witnesses, the police corrected the original version.
The impact was very serious as the car’s windshield was completely shattered.
The cyclist was unconscious when emergency services arrived. He suffers a serious head injury and his life is in danger.
The investigation is intended to clarify whether the cyclist has carried out a reckless maneuver or not.

However, the driver of the car was arrested after failing the breathalyzer test. The 28-year-old exceeded the legal speed limit.
The investigation is still ongoing, but the protected area was lifted shortly before 8 p.m.
The suspect could be accused of driving disruption with bodily harm.
