A disastrous first start for Alek Manoah

The Toronto Blue Jays sent Alek Manoah to the Florida Training Complex League hoping he could find his touch there.

However, the pitcher struggled on his first start on Tuesday. Manoah allowed 10 hits on the mound, including two home runs, and 11 earned runs in just two and two-thirds of the innings. He also conceded two walks and knocked out three batters.

Unhappy with his performance, the Jays demoted Manoah to the lowest possible rating in minor league baseball, even below Tier A, on June 7.

He had a disastrous start to the season with a 7-1 record and a 6.36 earned run average.

After enjoying a day off on Monday, the Blue Jays return to action Tuesday night at Rogers Center, where they host a rare guest from San Francisco. The first game of the three-way series against the Giants will be televised on TVA Sports from 7 p.m.
