Having to leave in an ambulance can be unsettling and scary, especially for young children, but a paramedic in Strasbourg, France, has found the perfect technique to calm down a little girl: sing her a Disney song.
Mike Ayden, 37, soothed his young patient to the tune of “The Story of Life,” a song from The Lion King. The scene was then shared on TikTok and has been a hit since April 30th.
“We took in a little girl who is a Disney fan! So it was logical for me to offer him the music of The Lion King (…) the tears turned into smiles,” the video caption reads.
Many people have commented on the publication, highlighting both the gesture and the man’s talent.
“When we took her in, she was crying, she was scared. I immediately noticed that she was wearing a Disney character t-shirt and asked her if she knew The Lion King. When she said yes to me, I rushed to sing her this song that I adore and sing often,” Mike Ayden told French broadcaster BFM TV.
The paramedic made TikTok videos to share his passion for music and automatically asked for parental permission to capture this magical moment. “Her eyes widened immediately, she was mesmerized by the song and she stopped crying immediately,” he said.
He also pointed out that singing had become a habit for his patients. “I understood my mission today. Take care of the patients and relieve them by singing. Music is a real gift and I want to give it to as many people as possible,” said Mike Ayden.
