A dog left in the trash was rescued in time and then taken abroad, where a loving family welcomed her with open arms before she became a therapy animal. A story reported by ITV News.

Madi’s life got off to a bad start. This dog had actually been spotted with her brothers and sisters in a dumpster in Targu Neamt, a city in northeastern Romania. The litter was trapped and starved and thus destined for certain death. Luckily, the canines had been rescued by local volunteers.

All were then adopted. Madi, she came from an English couple living in the Teesside area. The bitch was therefore repatriated to the UK where she awaited her new life.

Maaz Rahman and Nicci Knight were over the moon about the dog from the start. “Despite everything she’s been through, Madi has so much love to give,” said her mistress. So that’s what we thought [la former pour en faire une chienne de thérapie] was the perfect way to spread the happiness she brought into our lives.”

“She is so caring and sweet that we quickly realized she would make an excellent therapy dog,” continued Nicci Knight.

A ray of sunshine for children

In fact, Madi underwent special training with the organization Pets As Therapy, which she passed with flying colours. As a certified therapy dog, she quickly fulfilled her first missions.

She visited sick children admitted to Butterwick Hospice Care in Stockton to comfort and bring them joy. The dog then saw the children with autism spectrum disorders at the Mackenzie Thorpe Centre, also in the Teesside area.

An introduction that brought complete satisfaction and announced other equally useful visits to schools, hospitals and clubs.

Madi has indeed found her calling and her painful past is now far behind her.
