At the end of the day on Tuesday there was still a lot to do.

Some roads remained impassable. Still flooded, Route 243 headed towards Sutton and the US border crossing at Highwater in Vermont.

Around fifteen campers experienced strong emotional moments during the night from Monday to Tuesday. They had to be evacuated by boat by the fire brigade.

Michel Bélanger and his wife Lysann Hounzell planned the coup. They had time to gather and stack whatever was in the box outside of their van. The couple then moved their trailer to a safe location.

Others weren’t so lucky; At the end of the day, Gaétan Aubry was still waiting for the water level to drop to see the extent of the damage.

Upon exiting, the water threatened to completely flood the interior of his trailer.

Potton declared a state of emergency Tuesday morning to allow him access to the resources needed to complete the work as soon as possible.

Potton Mayor Bruno Côté urged citizens to be patient and careful. He couldn’t guarantee them that all access routes would be reopened before dark.
