“A car landed on its hood after impacting a Hydro Quebec pole on Marcotte Boulevard in Roberval at approximately 5:40 a.m.,” Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesman Éric Cadotte said. The car caught fire and the two occupants fled.

However, the passenger was found near the scene of the accident before being treated by paramedics. For his part, the driver, a man from Saint-Félicien known to the police, was located at his home.

“The man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, hit and run resulting in assault and possession of narcotics,” said Eric Cadotte. A small quantity of drugs was found on him. He was taken to a hospital to give a blood sample for analysis. […] We assume he fell asleep at the wheel and showed signs of intoxication.
