A suspected drunk driver in Nebraska was arrested after he unintentionally called police to report someone driving on the opposite side of the road.
The unidentified man called 911 to report that someone was driving on the wrong side of Highway 77 in Lancaster County – apparently without realizing he was the one driving the wrong way.
Bodycam footage of the incident was released Thursday by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office along with audio of the 911 call.
When the dispatcher picked up the man, he said, “I’m northbound on Highway 77 and there’s someone on the wrong side of the road.”
But when police approached the man’s vehicle, it was clear he was on the wrong side of the road – and that he was drunk.

The driver said, ‘He had his lights on, man.’ He almost ran me off the road.’
The police found the man, stopped him and asked him if he knew why he was stopped.
“Yeah, because I was on the wrong side of the road,” the drunk driver said.
The man claimed that he “must have missed an exit” and that this was the reason he was driving on the wrong side.
The police then asked if he was the one who had called earlier and the man said: “Yeah, because I thought someone was on the wrong side of the street, bro.”
The officer then said, “It turns out it was you,” and the man replied, “Yeah, like an idiot.”
The man’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. In Nebraska, the legal limit is 0.08 percent.

A Lancaster County sheriff’s deputy arrested the man before anyone was seriously injured.
Captain John A. Vik told Fox News Digital: “We are grateful to the members of the public who report impaired drivers to our deputies and encourage others to do the same.” “In this case, the caller happened to be both caller as well as a disabled driver.”
The sheriff’s office also told Fox that “impaired driving is a leading cause of traffic accidents and fatalities.”
Lancaster County is participating in the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
