Things had started well for the Canadian formation, however, as Tyler Toffoli opened the scoring in the second period from assists from Scott Laughton and Jack Quinn. The former Canadiens were also very happy to have finally reached the goal.

“I feel like I had a million chances in this tournament and even though Crouse deflected my shot, I’m going to get the goal.” It feels good to score my first goal here, I’ll try to do it to use as motivation for the rest. I hope to keep creating chances and keeping a close eye on the opposing net. I want to keep scoring goals.

Samuel Montembeault blocked 23 of 26 shots he faced in the loss. However, his coach believes the players in front of him can do better.

“I think we showed a bit of nervousness and weren’t as aggressive as we wanted to be. In the third third we were more intense and faster in the pre-check, which allowed us to create more chances, so that’s a positive. We have to focus on our defensive play because that aspect will be crucial until the end of the tournament. You have to give credit to the Swiss who worked really hard. It was a hard-fought game,” said Tourigny.

Switzerland maintains its perfect record and secures its fifth win in as many games.

Canada’s next game against Norway is on Monday.
