A first one-way contract for Joe Veleno

Quebec’s Joe Veleno signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.

The center player received an amount of $825,000. The 23-year-old Montrealer, whose three-year rookie contract expired in 2022-23, was a restricted free agent.

Last year Veleno played its first full season in the National Hockey League. In 81 games, he scored nine goals and provided 11 assists for 20 points.

The Wings first-round pick (30th overall) in the 2018 draft has played 152 games at the Bettman stretch, scoring 36 points.
