No details about the manner of his death have been released at this time. The Lions organization announced this in a press release on Thursday.
“Jessie was an exemplary teammate and a wonderful young man who left way too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time,” the Michigan team said.
The Florida native signed a free agent contract with the Chargers in 2020 before joining the Lions for the 2021 season.
In two seasons at the Goodell Circuit, the former Liberty University Flames had 15 tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks.
The Arlington Renegades organization in the XFL selected Lemonier during the circuit’s draft session last November. However, he had decided to play with the Houston Gamblers in the USFL.
