Striker Brandon Gignac impressed on Sunday. He scored the first goal of the game by putting the puck into the goal after a shot between his legs. The 26-year-old was also involved in Jared Davidson's equalizer in the third period and scored a goal in the shootout.
Arber Xhekaj and Logan Mailloux continued their excellent momentum from recent games. The first found the second when he shook the strings with a shot from the blue line at the start of the second period.
The two defensemen have scored 10 points in their last 12 games together.
The only downside for the Laval team is the injuries to Sean Farrell and Gabriel Bourque, who left the game without ever returning.
Joe Gambardella, Samuel Laberge and Ryan Schmelzer responded for the local favorites.
In goal, Kasimir Kaskisuo made 36 saves for Laval.
The Rocket will face the Comets again on Wednesday, this time at Place Bell.
