A French jury on Friday sentenced an influencer to 19 years in prison for the livestreamed murder of a man following an online row.
Son of a French actress, Firmine Richard (“Eight Women”, “Romuald and Juliette”, “Les Profs 2″…), with whom he was still living, had stabbed Keneff Leauva, 40, in April 2021 Mamadi T., alias ” Moussa VR6″.
The victim appeared at dawn at the actress’ home in the Paris region to explain himself after an altercation in front of 500 spectators on the live video application Bigo Live.
The jury upheld a sentence of less than 25 years, as the prosecutor demanded, because Keneff Leauva’s gesture was unintentional.
With many netizens summoned to testify in court, this week’s trial showed how one man’s individual radicalization was part of a collective online drift, to the point where the lines between the real and the virtual were blurring.
