Moroccan police launched an investigation on Monday November 28, 2022 following a suicide attempt by a French tourist suspected of killing his two children.
According to a press release from the Directorate-General for National Security (DGSN), transmitted by BFM/TV, the investigations, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, aim to “determine the causes and circumstances of a suicide attempt by the 72-year-old man. The latter is suspected of having committed infanticide by injecting his two underage children with a suspicious substance.

The lifeless bodies of the children, also of French nationality, aged 9 and 13, were discovered in a hotel room in a tourist area of Marrakesh. Her father, a retired male nurse, was found near her in a comatose state.
Initial findings from the investigation revealed that the bodies showed no signs of violence or resistance. The seventy-year-old was admitted to the intensive care unit at a local hospital. The police seized used medical syringes at the scene. They also found a handwritten letter explaining the motives behind the drama, apparently family, according to the same police source. The pensioner’s ex-wife was questioned by the Moroccan criminal police as part of the investigation.
