A Frenchman at the helm of CF Montreal?

Coach Laurent Courtois would apparently be one of the candidates for the vacant pilot position at CF Montreal.

On Monday, The Athletic website journalist Tom Bogert claimed that the former France midfielder had an interview with the Bleu-Blanc-Noir team.

Courtois is currently the head coach of Columbus Crew 2, the Ohio team's reserve team. The 45-year-old led his team to an MLS Nest Pro championship in 2022 and reached the finals of the development round in 2023.

Before he took the leap to becoming a coach, the Lyon native continued to develop as a player. He played for several French clubs and some European teams before moving to Major League Soccer (MLS). Courtois played for Chivas USA and the Los Angeles Galaxy in North America. In 2014 he gave up his crampons.

CF Montreal fired head coach Hernan Losada at the end of the 2023 season, less than a year after he was hired. The Argentine was the ninth rider to join the Belle Province team since its MLS debut in 2012. The others were Jesse Marsch, Marco Schällibaum, Frank Klopas, Mauro Biello, Rémi Garde, Wilmer Cabrera, Thierry Henry and Wilfried Nancy.
