The Nashville Predators have extended head coach John Hynes’ contract by two years, general manager David Poile announced on Thursday.

Hired on January 7, 2020 following the sacking of Peter Laviolette, Hynes has guided his team to the playoffs this season. They went 45-30-7 to earn the last bye of teams drafted in the Western Conference. However, she failed to win a single game in the first round of the playoffs against the Colorado Avalanche.
“I think he did a fantastic job, his staff too,” mentioned Poile in a press conference, the one who attended the Predators season recap. I have full confidence in John and his coaching staff to lead us to bigger and better things in the future.”
The chief trainer also saw last year how his men lowered the flag in the first round. Since arriving in Tennessee, he has a record of 92-64-10 and 242 wins in 520 regular-season games of his career. He led the New Jersey Devils from 2015 to 2019.

Poile and Hynes also opened up about several important off-season issues for their team. Another goalkeeper is also said to support Juuse Saros in 2022-2023, which seems to mean the end for David Rittich with the “Preds”. In 17 games in his debut season in Nashville, the Czech won 6-3-4 with an average of 3.57 conceding and an .886 save.
The staff could turn to Connor Ingram, who made a name for himself at the end of the regular season and in the playoffs. The 25-year-old goaltender has spent the most time in the American League over the past five years.
Hynes said Saros’ assistant should be able to play around 20 games.
Striker Filip Forsberg’s contract is also an important issue for the Predators. The Swede ended his best season to date with 42 goals and 84 points in just 69 games.
His six-year, $6 million annual contract expires this summer. There is a mutual interest in continuing the cooperation between the two parties.
“For today, for the next month or however long it takes, we will focus [sur la signature de Forsberg]’ the DG announced.
