The parents of a 9-year-old Florida girl who was brutally beaten by two students on a school bus in front of her classmates are calling for criminal charges to be brought against the two teenage offenders.
In a disturbing video shared by the New York Post, we see the little girl curled up on a bus bench, somehow trying to defend herself from severe and repeated beatings on her head, neck and face by two boys protection.
No adult intervenes during the 30 seconds that the young student at Coconut Palm K-8 Academy in Homestead attacks.
The young victim’s parents, struck by the heartbroken pictures that have been circulating, have reportedly confirmed to Local News 10 that they have filed a complaint against the school and will be taking legal action against the young attackers.
“It’s very crazy because, despite all the screaming on the bus, the two adults on the bus – the driver and the bus assistant – are only sitting in the front,” the mother, who asked for anonymity, is said to have complained.
The same story in Quebec
This attack comes at a time when Quebec is reporting a sharp rise in violence in its schools, while the number of videos of students being beaten by classmates continues to stir ink.
Violence has doubled or even tripled in several school service centers, Liberal MP for Saint-Laurent Marwah Rizqy reported on Wednesday.
For example, at the Center des services scolaire des Mille-Îles, the number of violent incidents would have increased from 2,500 in 2018-2019 to 4,200 in 2021-2022.
