Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson had to withdraw from Thursday night's game against the Canucks in Vancouver for a rather surprising reason.
At the beginning of the third period, the 24-year-old retreated to his team's bench and talked to his coach. He then retreated to the locker room and was replaced in net by Carter Hart. Watch the video above.

NBC Sports has learned that Ersson suffered from dehydration, which led to cramps. Just before he left, he lost his shutout after being thwarted by Teddy Blueger.
The Swede stopped 18 of the 19 pucks sent his way and Hart was perfect on eight shots in the Flyers' 4-1 win.
Ersson will play his first full season in the National League in 2023/24. The fifth-round pick (143rd overall) in the 2018 draft had a 9-4-2 record, a .902 save percentage and a 2.50 goals-against average.
