Encarnacion seized the moment to score his first career success on Sunday against the mighty New York Mets. He hit a long ball when the bases were loaded and led the Marlins to a 6-2 win.

With Team Florida trailing 1-0 in the seventh inning, the outfielder and first baseman sent an offer from Chris Bassitt into the stands. He allowed Miguel Rojas, Jacob Stallings and Bryan De La Cruz to circle the trails.

Encarnacion became the second player in Marlins history to score a grand slam on his major league debut and the first since Jeremy Hermida in 2005.

The Dominican also stole a base in the ninth inning before crossing home plate with a double from Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Bassitt (5-5) took the loss after allowing three runs with five hits in six and a third inning. However, he managed nine strikeouts.

His vis-à-vis Sandy Alcantara (7-2) was outstanding in eight innings, allowing just two runs earned and six hits.
