A great homage to Celine Dion

Are Céline Dion songs worth it without her incomparable voice? If we rely on the magnificent tribute paid to him by the Quebec Philharmonic Orchestra on Wednesday evening as part of this honour Celine Symphonique at Maison Symphonique: absolutely.

“Welcome to this symphonic celebration of our national team Céline. (…) We want to remind them that we miss them and that we can't wait to see them again,” said conductor Alexandre Da Costa in front of almost 1,800 spectators after leading a medley of Christmas songs with the 47 musicians that Quebec Philharmonic Orchestra.

Then it's time for the challenge of performing the songs in a symphonic version by Céline Dion, who is currently on a professional break for health reasons.

The bar was high, but certainly not too high, for the six soloists who competed on their vocal abilities to accomplish this mission: Anne Sila, Vincent Niclo, Barnev Valsaint, Measha Brueggergosman-Lee, Jennifer-Lee Dupuy and Josiane Comeau .

This quickly broke the ice with the famous Destin. A somewhat slow start, but that didn't take into account the dynamic of Measha Brueggergosman-Lee and Jennifer-Lee Dupuy, who drew the first waddles from the rather well-behaved crowd with “Love Can Move Mountains.”

A big party

The already magnificent songs of Céline Dion took on an even more spectacular dimension under the touch of the Quebec Philharmonic Orchestra, between the emotional interpretation of “Love or Friendship” by Anne Sila; the intense “If it was enough to love” by Vincent Niclo, the festive “I'm Alive” by Jennifer-Lee Dupuy that brought the audience to their feet, and “Beauty and the Beast” by the talented Josiane Comeau and the singer's duet was sung by Céline Dion and Barnev Valsaint.

It is difficult not to be impressed by so many essential classics and anecdotes from soloists about the uniqueness of Céline Dion, but above all by so many talents that highlight her exceptional repertoire.

During the evening, Alexandre Da Costa also highlighted the presence of several members of the Dion family in the room: “On behalf of all Quebecers, thank you very much and bravo!” »
