Students and winter take a break in Quebec. Forecast.
Spring break
The winter is expected to be one of the mildest in history in several regions of Quebec. This mild trend should continue over the next two weeks. Positive temperature anomalies are expected, meaning mercury levels above normal. In fact, it could reach up to 15°C at times in the south of the province. So winter and the student body are taking a break this year.
“In terms of weather, we can expect anything during the period that marks the spring holidays in Quebec,” explains meteorologist Réjean Ouimet. The beginning of March is a crucial time of the season that can lead to radical changes. We can experience the arrival of an early spring with mildness and sunshine or the continuation of winter with cold temperatures and storms. »
Two lovely weeks
Spring break lasts two weeks in Quebec. What can you expect during this time? If you're planning outdoor activities like skiing, skating, or sliding, you'll need to choose your region accordingly. The mild temperatures are expected to overcome the snow cover in several areas. Additionally, it could rain around the middle of next week. There's also good spring skiing north of Montreal.
Early spring
These early spring conditions could mean a change in spring break plans. To some extent the mildness would be strong enough for weather worthy of early April. In fact, this wave of mildness, punctuated by a brief drop in mercury, should deliver the final blow to snow on the ground in several regions of Quebec. However, it should be noted that delayed broadsides of several weeks are still possible in the south of the province.
“The strong trend of the last few weeks will continue to close the gap until the beginning of March,” estimates Réjean Ouimet. So winter continues to wane. Post-winter conditions are on the agenda this first week of spring break. »
