Cincinnati Reds batsman-designate Christian Encarnacion-Strand played for his team in Friday night’s 1-0 win over the Toronto Blue Jays heroes at Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park.
Encarnacion Beach stretched out his arms after Jordan Hicks’ shot in the ninth inning, handing Cincinnati the win.

Despite the defeat, Jose Berrios, the Toronto Blue Jays’ starting pitcher, caught the eye in the duel.
The right-hander made a good start, allowing the opponent just one hit in five and two-thirds of the work.
The game went without a run or hit until the sixth inning, but Matt McLain scored a single that prevented him from achieving that feat.
The Toronto offensive acted rather discreetly in the duel, as they only scored a meager three goals. Whit Merrifield, Brandon Belt and Daulton Varsho were the only ones on the Jays’ side to hit the trails.
This meeting marked the return of outfielder Kevin Kiermaier and substitute Trevor Richards.
Kiermaier has been sidelined since August 6 with a laceration to his right elbow, while Richards suffered from a sore throat on July 3.
Reinforcements coming up?
The Toronto outfit could expect a key element to return by Saturday as shortstop Bo Bichette would be in the starting lineup for Saturday’s game.
His name was placed on the injured list on July 31 due to a knee injury. He sustained the injury while attempting to stretch a doubles singles on a trail run during a game against the Baltimore Orioles.
This week he continued his rehabilitation with the Buffalo Bisons, the Jays’ AAA-level school club. Bichette had a great game Thursday and hit a home run.
The 25-year-old hit 144 hits, including 17 home runs, while averaging an excellent .321 batting average.
Things aren’t going well for the Yankees
Things are getting worse for the New York Yankees as they just suffered a ninth loss in their last ten games by dropping the flag 8-3 at Yankee Stadium on Friday night against their eternal rivals, the Red Sox in Boston.
The only bright spot for New York was star player Aaron Judge hitting his 23rd long ball of the season.
Masataka Yoshida stood out with the Red Sox with four RBIs and a shot in the first inning.
