A homecoming for Andrew McCutchen

Outfielder Andrew McCutchen will return to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2023 after they signed him to a one-year contract on Friday.

The value of the deal was not disclosed. The 36-year veteran will reconnect with the organization for which he played the first nine seasons of his major league baseball career from 2009 to 2017.

McCutchen hit .237 last season with the Milwaukee Brewers, hitting 17 homers and 69 RBIs. He has also played for the Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees and has hit 287 long balls in his lifetime, including 31 in 2012.

That year he pocketed the only Golden Glove of his career. He also has four silver rods.
