A journalist’s body was found in one of the attacked buildings in Kyiv

Ukrainian rescuers on Friday recovered the body of a Radio Liberty producer from the rubble of a building in Kyiv that was hit by a missile, the US broadcaster said.

Radio Liberty said in a statement that Vira Hyrych, who had worked in his Kyiv office since February 2018, was killed after a Russian missile hit the building where she lived.

The death was the first to be reported in the rocket attack on Thursday when United Nations chief Antonio Guterres was visiting Kyiv. Ukrainian officials said two Russian missiles hit the capital.

Russia confirmed it had attacked Kyiv with “highprecision” weapons during a visit by UN SecretaryGeneral Antonio Guterres.

“Highprecision longrange weapons of the Russian Aerospace Forces have destroyed Artyom’s missile production facilities and enterprises in Kyiv,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.

At least 10 people were initially injured in the attack, but Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a body was recovered on Friday.

A spokesman for the federal government said the country considered the attack on Kyiv to be inhuman.

“In the eyes of the world community, the attack shows once again that Putin and his regime are disregarding international law,” said Wolfgang Büchner.
